ArOmis Orbis Nox Merus Review

ArOmis Orbis Nox Merus review

At last, I got to try out the ArOmis Orbis Nox Merus nebulizer!  In this review, I will show you everything you need to know about it.

ArOmis has been producing nebulizers since 2011.  ArOmis products are made in Taipei, Taiwan.  But, they are actually based out of Boulder, Colorado.  They are a small family run business that is committed to selling aromatherapy products on a global scale.  You can learn more about them from their about us page.

Prior to testing them out, I saw them on Amazon where they had received lots of positive feedback (660+ 4-5 star ratings).  Also, I have seen various YouTube videos and reviews on them which reviewed their nebulizers.

When you order the ArOmis Orbis Nox Merus nebulizer it does come with a glass reservoir, glass cap, wooden base, 1 pipette, instruction manual, and a padded box.

There are a lot of nebulizers on the market and I want to give you an inside look at the ArOmis Orbis Nox Merus.  So, get ready to learn everything you possibly can about this popular nebulizer.

ArOmis Orbis Nox Merus Box

The dimensions are 11 x 3.5 x 7 inches.  There is a pad on the bottom of it which keeps your surfaces from getting scratched up.  Obviously, since it’s a nebulizer it doesn’t require any heat or water.

You do have an option between UK (type G) and USA (type A) plug options.

Unlike a lot of nebulizers, you do have options prior to purchasing the nebulizer.

The nebulizer works like this; it turns on for 10 minutes and then turns off.  There is a timer that you need to predefine before making your purchase.  Meaning, that the nebulizer will completely turn off after 1, 4, 8, or 12 hours of usage.  Hopefully, I didn’t confuse you on this, but I will go into more detail about it later on in this review.  My nebulizer is a 4-hour timer which will be circled in the manual.

How To Assemble The ArOmis Orbis Nox Merus

Assembling the ArOmis Orbis Nox Merus is very easy.

It’s only a few steps.

First, take the base out of the box.  Then take the glass reservoir out and gently press it into the base.  Next, plug in your AC plugin into the front of the unit.  Then, you’re going to want to put in 20-25 drops of pure essential oil.  I recommend Plant Therapy (see my review), Rocky Mountain Oils (see my review), and Edens Garden (see my review) essential oils.  Also, you can check out my full list of recommended essential oils brands here.  Next, you put the glass cap on the top of the nebulizer.   Lastly, you turn the dial and within seconds you will begin to smell the essential oils.

Here is a video on using it:

How Do You Use The ArOmis Orbis Nox Merus

ArOmis Orbis Nox Merus DialUsing the ArOmis Orbis Nox Merus is very easy.

Unlike a lot of other nebulizers, there aren’t a lot of dials or buttons.  Instead, there is just one dial that you turn clockwise to use.  When you turn the dial clockwise it will click on.  The more you turn the dial the higher the output of essential oil is dispersed into the air.

Again, it stays on for 10 minutes and then shuts off for 10 minutes.  Depending on the timer settings that you decide before you purchase it will run with a 10 minute on and 10-minute cycle for 1,4,8, or 12 hours.  My ArOmis Orbis Nox Merus cycles for 4 hours.

This nebulizer doesn’t light up or anything.  This can either be a pro or con depending on your needs, though.

According to ArOmis they have stated this on LED lights and nebulizers:

“Nebulizers with LEDs tend to break much more quickly because of how the LED needs to be inserted into the air supply tube and glued into place. The Glue is a failure point so if any oil ever gets into the tube at all, it will digest the glue and the nebulizer will stop working.

LEDs emit UV light which, if you look, are the functional part of most “aroma eliminating devices”. Light also increases oxidation rates of essential oils turning them yellow and reducing their health effects and aroma intensity. This is the main reason we do not offer a light.”

My Experience With The ArOmis Orbis Nox Merus

My experience with the ArOmis Orbis Nox Merus has been very positive and I will explain why.

First, I really like how the glass cap on it doesn’t just point up as it does with my Raindrop 2.0 nebulizer by Organic Aromas.  I have high ceilings so I don’t just want the essential oils to go up in the air.  My ceilings are 12 foot so I do prefer nebulizers that angle the mist instead of going straight up in the air.

Secondly, I really do like the shape of the ArOmis Orbis Nox Merus.  Meaning the bottom part where the oils are.  It dips down so the essential oil can collect there.  Other nebulizers are almost kind of flat across which I feel is a huge design flaw.

Next, I really like the 10 minutes on and 10 minutes off.  My nebulizer is a model that automatically shuts off after 4 hours.  Personally, I feel that is a good option because 1 hour seems way to short and 12 hours seems way too long for me.  But, then again it has to do with your personal preference and your specific needs. Also, there is no need to buy an external timer or anything either.

I have found that the low setting is just fine in my living room, bedroom, etc.  It disperses the oils which are very potent.  However, you can crank the dial up to medium or high if you want the essential oil to get into the air quicker and to be more potent.  I did use it on medium in my living room and I did notice the aroma fill the room much quicker.

However, keep in mind that if you use it on medium to high it will use your essential oils a lot faster.  Personally, I have found that high is too much for me.  Meaning it fills the room up with oil to quickly.  I actually did this in a big living room and noticed an overpowering scent.

Do make sure you save your box for your ArOmis Orbis Nox Merus.  It’s a padded box which is great when you are traveling.

Nebulizer Blends

Odor Be Gone

This blend will help freshen your room and get bad smelling odors out of your room. Optionally, you can use lemongrass instead of lime if you want. Lemongrass is a great essential oil for killing the odor.

Sickness & Wellness

  • 15 Thieves Blend

The blend will help kill airborne germs. Thieves is a blend that was created by Young Living, but I wrote an article that shows you how to make your own Thieves blend. Blast this on high when your sick or someone else in your house is sick. Trust me it works!

Mind Is Racing

This blend is great when you are stressed out from a hard day. It has a lot of relaxing properties in it. Diffuse it throughout the day when your mind is racing and you are anxious about something.

How Loud Is The ArOmis Orbis Nox Merus

One downside to a nebulizer is that they are louder than electronic diffusers.

One thing I have learned about nebulizers is the dB is usually over 50 dB.  However, this one isn’t very loud.  In fact, if you want to get technical it’s only 34 to 38 dB.  Obviously, it’s a little louder when it’s on high versus low.

Cleaning & Maintenance

I highly recommend cleaning your ArOmis Orbis Nox Merus after every 4-5 uses. Also, I would recommend cleaning it when you are using essential oils that don’t blend together and you want to get the smell out of there.

It’s very easy to clean the nebulizer.

  • Remove the bottle from the base.
  • Drop 10-20 drops (using the pipette) of 91% rubbing alcohol in. (Don’t fill the alcohol past the top of the tubes).
  • Put the base and cap back on and let it diffuse for 10-20 minutes.
  • Take the base off and rinse with water.

For the cap soak it in rubbing alcohol and rinse off with water.

If there is a clog which happens when you use thicker essential oils use the pipette to flush out the tubes. Do make sure that the ArOmis Orbis Nox Merus is completely dry before using it again. Typically, it takes about 30 minutes to dry completely.

Warranty & Replacement

A warranty is awesome to have since this nebulizer is almost $100.

It’s recommended that you call them at 720-388-7339 or email them at info@aromis.co.  Most of the times nebulizers are clogged when they stop working, though.  ArOmis recommends that you clean the reservoir out with rubbing alcohol.

“Local USA support – Almost every other nebulizer company out there is based in Asia. Their only means of support typically is email and a 1 year warranty. They have people who come back to us 7 years later after buying their nebulizer and have their motor replaced and its all from here in Boulder, Colorado.”

With ArOmis their warranty is for 1 full year.  This covers all parts, labor, and replacements.  For bottles, caps, and power supplies you don’t have to send the broken item back.  Instead, they will send you a replacement after you contact them.  However, for the wooden base, you will need to spend $4 and mail it back to them.  Make sure you put the base in a padded envelope or small package.  It’s vital that you add padding to the package and padding doesn’t weigh much.

ArOmis does offer a warranty after one year, too.  However, it’s going to cost you some.  For instance, a new motor is going to cost you $10.  A cap will cost you $5, and a replacement bottle reservoir is going to cost about $20.  I do like the cheap price of replacement parts.  So, it might be worth it to buy an extra cap or bottle reservoir in case you break it and don’t want to wait to have another one shipped out.

A lot of nebulizers are cheaper and are actually said to be “disposable”.  Meaning, they might last for a year or so and then you need to get another one.  This is not the case with ArOmis they make high-quality nebulizers that will last for the long run.

Final Verdict

Wow!  I was really impressed with this nebulizer.

I highly recommend the ArOmis Orbis Nox Merus nebulizer.  It’s truly an awesome product to have.

Once, you start using a nebulizer I am confident that you will probably want to do away with diffusers altogether.  They put a lot more essential oil in the air.

Again, I am so glad I got to try out the Orbix Nox Merus!  It really is an awesome nebulizer.

You do have options for a timer that automatically shuts off after 1,4,8, or 12 hours of usage.  There is no way to adjust the 10 minutes on 10 minutes off, but I do like how it stays on longer than other nebulizers.  Not a lot of nebulizer manufacturers give you full control on timer settings, which I do like how ArOmis does give you that option.

I really can’t think of anything very negative to say about the ArOmis Orbis Nox Merus nebulizer other than it doesn’t light up and it doesn’t come with a USB plugin.  However, you can easily get a USB wall plugin.  ArOmis did have this to say about USB plugins:

“We opt to use a 12v motor in our device which lets the unit be more powerful. USB is only 5V . The output reduction of a 5v motor was not worth the convenience of a USB. We may be able to use the new 9V fast chargers and we are looking into that for the next version in 2020.”

ArOmis does have 11 other models that look different, too.  So, if the Orbis Nox Merus will not work for you, you do have other options.

  1. Looks like a really good nebulizer.

I don’t really care about a light since I would probably just turn it off.  But, I do have a question.  Can you not use thicker essential oils with this though?  I love Sandalwood, but I know it’s a thick essential oil.  I was hoping there is a way to use it with this nebulizer.

    1. Hey Chris,

I have updated this review with information on the lighting. ArOmis feel very strongly about not using any LED lights with their nebulizers. I was completely unaware that they could be a fail point and could actually contaminate the essential oil.

Yes, you can use thicker essential oils with your nebulizer. I would suggest using a thinner oil like lavender to mix with sandalwood. For instance, 1 drop of sandalwood per drop for every 5 drops of lavender.

    2. Yes, you can use almost any oil in the diffuser but if it’s thick, it needs to be diluted either with everclear alcohol or with another lighter oil. The one thing you should not use are oils with carrier oils in them like Almond or Coconut oil.

  2. Looks like a much better option than an electronic diffuser.  A friend of mine got a nebulizer the other day.  I forget which brand but that got me convinced that I need to use one now.

Does ArOmis ship all around the world?  I live in India, but certainly, want to get one of these nebulizers!

    1. Hey Md Monul Islam,

Yes, ArOmis does ship worldwide. I am confident that once you get one of their nebulizers you will be so glad you did!

  3. Glad I saw this review on this nebulizer. I have seen them on Amazon, but I don’t trust reviews on there because I believe a lot of them can be faked.

Been looking for a quality nebulizer and I think you have made my tough decision easier now. They look like an excellent company. Doesn’t really look like there is anything negative about them.

    1. Hey Salim,

I know what you are saying! A lot of Amazon reviews can be faked. It’s actually pretty sad that companies go through all the trouble of faking something when they should be more concerned about making improvements.

However, with ArOmis they do not fake their reviews and do put out really quality nebulizers.

Certainly, don’t have anything negative to say about them.

  4. This is an excellent nebulizer!

I know what you are talking about; there are a lot of cheap imitation nebulizers on the internet.  I remember years ago I bought a cheap one on eBay.  The thing broke within the first month and I was out $35.  The warranty for it was I believe 30-days.

But, ArOmis  is awesome!  I bought their Solum Lux Vitis one a year or so ago.  I have even referred several of my friends to them!

    They are simply the best!

    1. Hey Frank,
That is great to hear that you are happy with your nebulizer from ArOmis. They are certainly better than those cheap ones on eBay!
