The InnoGear 150ml Essential Oil Diffuser is one of the most popular electronic diffusers on the market. According to Amazon, it’s a “best seller”. There are over 12,000 positive reviews on this diffuser. If you’re like me you don’t believe everything you read on the internet, though.
I have been using it for over 5 months now and wanted to let you know everything about it. This full InnoGear 150ml Essential Oil Diffuser review will teach you everything you need to know about this product. Then, you can decide if you want to purchase it or not.
The Good About This Essential Oil Diffuser
- Last for 5-8 hours without having to refill it.
- Comes with a measuring cup.
- Comes in 8 different lighting colors.
- Has an auto shut-off feature.
- Great replacement policy. Can replace it for up to 18 months.
- The oil is cold and doesn’t use heat so there is no risk of a fire.
- Low price and it’s under $20.
The Bad About This Essential Oil Diffuser
- The top can be kind of hard to line up with the inner insert.
- No USB.
- Other name brand ones leave more oil in the air.
How Do You Use It?

The InnoGear Essential Oil Diffuser is pretty simple to use. It uses a standard plugin. You plug in the cord to the bottom of the diffuser. Then you plug in the other end to the wall. As you can see from the picture above the top comes off. It does twist off. Then you lock it in place when you are ready to use it.
There is an insert inside the inside which you lift off. There is a little container which comes with this diffuser. You can fill the water in and then pour into the container. The container is marked with 20ml up to 150ml, too. You simply pour in your favorite essential oil (like lavender) and you are ready to use your diffuser.
Two Buttons
There are two buttons located at the base of the diffuser.
Light Button
The first one controls the lighting. The first time you hit the lighting it will cycle through the different colors. If you push the button again you can manually cycle through the different colors. The colors are listed down below:
- Orange.
- Green.
- Purple.
- Red.
- Yellow.
- Pink.
- Blue.
- White.
There are two versions of each color. Meaning that there is a lighter orange and brighter orange. Optionally if you cycle through all the colors you can turn the light off completely.
Mist button

The next button is the mist button. This will control two different settings. The first time you push it the light will turn green. This will intermittently mist for 30 seconds and then pause for 30 seconds.
If you push the mist button again a light next to the mist button will turn red. This will do a continuous mist. If you push the mist button again the light will turn off and this will turn the mist completely off.
How Long Does It Last With Water In It?
A lot of other diffusers only hold 80ml or sometimes 120ml. This particular model actually holds 150ml. InnoGear did have another model that held 100ml. I like when diffusers will hold more water so that you don’t have to keep filling it up.
There is a max level line which I would suggest you only fill it to the max level only. If you do fill it above 150ml the diffuser will not work properly.
The InnoGear diffuser will last for about 5 hours when it’s filled to 150ml. This is when the continuous mist button is on (the red light). When your diffuser is on the intermittent mist last about 8 hours (the green light).
Auto Shut-off
This InnoGear diffuser will shut off on its own. This is done automatically and it will shut off when the water runs out completely. This is a basic feature that most electronic diffusers will come with. Mine hasn’t ever failed to shut off. I have purchased similar models where the auto shut-off setting stops working over time, though.
How Do You Clean It?
There is a manual that comes with the diffuser. So, I am going to be brief on how you clean it. I tend to clean the InnoGear diffuser after 3-4 uses. I use Citric Acid and let it sit for about 5-10 minutes. Then you scrub it with a cotton ball or thin wash rag. You can get Citric Acid at any local grocery store. However, if you want you can always buy Citric Acid on Amazon.
Does It Make A Lot of Noise?
The InnoGear Essential Oil Diffuser has a noise level of 30 – 35 dB. I know that number doesn’t really mean a lot to a lot of people, myself included. So, I can tell you this it’s pretty quiet.
Meaning no louder than people whispering in an office. It’s a “white noise” which is like a light humming noise. I don’t have any problems with the sound with this diffuser. I am one of those people have to sleep with a fan on because of the white noise, though.
How Big of An Area Does It Cover?
I have used it in a 12 X 12 room and could smell it in most of the room. Therefore, it can be used in small rooms. Meaning, not in the living room because you need something bigger for that.
However, I did notice that when I tried the NovaFuse by Plant Therapy it covered more of my office. What is funny is that diffuser only had a 70 mL tank, too.
Warranty & Refund Policy
If you purchase the diffuser and decide you don’t want it you have 45 days to get your money back. However, if your InnoGrear diffuser quits working you can get another one within 18 months. From a quick glance on Amazon, I saw that a few people asked for a new one and InnoGear replaced it almost immediately.
From my personal experience, my diffusor has worked for 5 months without any problems. But, it’s good to know that if it stops working I can always get another one.
Final Verdict
Do I recommend the InnoGear Essential Oil Diffuser? It’s alright if you’re on a tight budget. The price tag is under $20. However, if you can afford it I would highly recommend the NovaFuse by Plant Therapy. It is a better quality diffuser. But, this one by Innogear is average, but nothing spectacular.
It’s very easy to use and pretty basic to use. Having the ability to use it as a continuous diffuser or intermittent mode which turns on and off for 30 seconds at a time is a nice touch. You can use it for 5-8 hours without having to refill it.
I do like how it comes with a little container which is really a measuring cup. There are markings from 20ml to 150ml marked on it. Lastly, the refund policy and replacement policy is great. It’s good to know that I can buy an electronic diffuser for under $20 and get a replacement for up to 18 months.
Overall it’s an average aromatherapy diffuser and I do recommend it if you’re on a tight budget.
However, if you are looking for a bigger diffuser that will cover more area space check out my URPOWER 500 ml review.

I love this review. Me and my wife bought one similar to this at Walmart, but this seems WAY better. I’m going to bookmark this and get it here in a little while. We need one more for our bedroom, and I love this. Thanks for the detailed description.
Hey AJ,
Nothing against Walmart or anything, but the diffusers they sell there are NOT very good in terms of quality. I would highly suggest that you get an Innogear Aromatherapy Essential Oil Diffuser. If not the one mentioned in this article they do have a lot of other good ones, too. This one should be great for small bedrooms.
Wow, you’ve covered every possible question about the Innogear Essential Oil Diffuser. This is very helpful! I really expected the diffuser to be more expensive. I have bought cheap $25 ones that didn’t even last 3 months!
Hey Zoey,
I know right. I was shocked at how cheap this one was and pleasantly surprised at the quality of it. It’s the best electronic diffuser I have used for small to medium-sized rooms.
Thanks for this detailed review. I have never tried using a diffuser because they can be quite pricey but for under 20 dollars and what you get out of this particular brand, you can’t go wrong. Your review has convinced me to get one asap. I have bookmarked your article so that this can serve as a guide for me when I’m ready to buy one.
Hey Bea,
Yeah for under $20 you can’t go wrong with the InnoGear Aromatherapy Essential Oil Diffuser. I was so pleasantly surprised at the quality of it when I first started using it about 5 months ago. I have tried out a lot of them over the years and InnoGear has made me a customer for life.
I really like the detailed review. I personally own a marble burner with tealight. But it looks much more easy and safe to use this ultrasonic one. As a plus: is not expensive at all. I will definitely come back and learn more about your essential oils too. These essential oils might be a way to fight cancer or any other disease for that matter.
I found your post very interesting and educational.
Hey Olga,
The diffusers that actually heat up are not only dangerous, but they do kill the healing properties that are in a lot of essential oils. That is why it is so much better to use one that doesn’t heat up the oils. Not to mention that it can be a fire hazard, too.
You are correct that essential oils can be used to fight off cancer and other diseases, too.
I like this essential oil diffuser! I am curious, what specific essential oils are the best for keeping a room smelling fresh? I just want a fresh air smell and not sure which essential oil will be best.
Sounds like this product is a nice one. I like the 5-8 hours of use and I love the different colors You are correct, I would be using Lavender. This sounds like a very nice product for only $20.
Thank you for this great review! I love and use essential oils and I’m always looking for different ways to use them. This looks like a great diffuser that’s easy to use and not too expensive. I know that certain oils can break down plastics (especially citrus oils). Do you know if anyone has had any trouble with the plastic breaking down on this diffuser?
I like this electronic diffuser, and I have been looking at getting a couple of them. I have one in my living room, but it is easy to knock over and spill….which I have done several times now. I like the fun colors, they would work great in my Florida home 🙂 Glad I found this post! Will head over to Amazon now. Thanks!
Hey Matts Mom,
A lot of electronic diffusers will leak which is not fun to clean up. Especially, if it does it on a nice wooden tabled or something. But, InnoGear is a really great brand that I have been using for several years now.
You’re in luck because InnoGear does have a combo deal. You can get two of these awesome electronic diffusers at:
I love diffusers honestly. We didn’t have this in our house growing up – we always used air freshners. I saw this while in college actually when my roommate brought it for our apartment. I wasn’t quite sure what it did at first, but realized how helpful it is quite quickly. I think the noise is the most important for me as I remember the one that we used made quite a loud noise in a quiet room. It’s good that this doesn’t provide much noise. And the price seems very reasonable as well so will take a look for sure.
I think the one con about the top not properly lining up is really outweighed by all the pros for sure, and I’m not sure why the manufacturers haven’t fixed that minor problem. I agree it’s really a great basic option for those who want to use something that’s easy and can be left with minimal maintenance. This is something I’d gladly buy for my room being a busy college student and business owner.
Hey Ryan,
It’s not a design flaw or anything just for clarification, though. It’s designed to be that way. However, you have to make sure it’s lined up. It’s really the only con I could think of when writing this review.
Okay, I’ve been reading around and have been checking out a lot of posts about essential oil diffusers. I have to say I like the sounds of this one the best! I love the fact that it can change to different colors (or no color at all). I also really like the fact that you can have it just do a little spurt of missed every 30 seconds. I don’t really want an overwhelming fragrance I just want a very little bit ever so often. This one sounds perfect (especially for that price!) I don’t really like woody or musty smelling scents. Wondering if you have a recommendation for an essential oil that could help with depression, maybe and uplifting scent.
You tell everything about the InnoGear Essential Oil Diffuser, the dB, the volume content and design, and it looks really great. But what I think is interesting, and I can not find it, is that how much electricity does it use? When I have this 7 days a week plugged in and in different rooms, how much wattage does this cost me?
Nice review and it is of great value for what you get. I love that the diffuser can last for that many hours and its great that it can light up in so many different colors. None of us like bad smells in the home, so I can see this would do a good job of keeping the place smelling fresh and lovely. From the amount of positive reviews on Amazon and from your own experience, its definitely a really good diffuser. The auto shut off feature is very handy to have, there are a lot of positives.
Does InnoGear sell a bigger diffuser, though. For instance, maybe a 500 mL one?
Hey Eden,
Yes InnoGear does sell a bigger diffuser. They actually do have a 500 ml diffuser which is a great diffuser!
I just purchased a smaller diffuser and am not very happy with it. Seems like I am constantly refilling it. I like the amount that this one by InnoGear holds.
Do they have any larger ones that you are going to be reviewing that last for the whole day like 12 hours? Call me lazy but I would love one that I would only have to fill twice a day.
Thank you this one does seem so much better than the one I purchased.
Susan
Hey Susan,
I know it’s a hassle at times to keep filling the diffuser up. Actually, this one isn’t all that big, but this one does last for about 8 hours, which is good for a 150 ml diffuser. However, you might check out this article: https://myscentedoils.com/aromatherapy-essential-oil-diffuser-info#Large_Ultrasonic_Diffusers
Some diffusers can last for much longer than 8 hours without needing to be filled again.
