Smiley Daisy Hibiscus Diffuser Review

Smiley Daisy Hibiscus Diffuser Review

This Smiley Daisy Hibiscus diffuser review is going to show you my real life experience using this popular diffuser.

Smiley Daisy is a small company that sells ultrasonic diffusers.  They do sell essential oils, too.  However, in this review, I am going to be focusing on their Hibiscus diffuser.  You can read about how the company started on their about us page.

There are an awful lot of diffusers to pick from when using your essential oils.  It’s very important that you are using pure essential oils when diffusing them. I have actually written an article which shows you all the top essential oil brands.  Additionally, I have previously written about the best essential oil diffusers and Smiley Daisy is certainly one of them.

So, lets’ get started and put the Hibiscus diffuser to the test and show you what you can expect.

The Good About The Smiley Daisy Hibiscus Diffuser

  • Highly Trusted Company
  • Quality Made Products
  • High/Low Mist Settings
  • Stylish Design
  • Comes With A Measuring Cup
  • Doesn’t Beep At All
  • Can Last For Up To 10 Hours
  • Automatically Shuts Off When Runs Out of Water

The Bad About The Smiley Daisy Hibiscus Diffuser

  • Doesn’t Have A USB Plugin
  • No Markings For Milliliter In Reseviour
  • No Intermittent Mode
  • Has A Wide Base So Can’t Put It On Thin Shelves

The dimensions of this diffuser are 8.27” X 6.68” X 3.15”.  The first thing I noticed about this diffuser is the interesting shape.  A lot of other diffusers I have tried out over the past are a lot taller than this one.  It’s certainly a lot flatter than other diffusers I have used.

It comes in walnut brown or white.  For my Smiley Daisy Hibiscus diffuser review, I did get the walnut brown one.  Personally, I think it’s a lot more visually appealing than the white one.  That and I do have about 5 other white diffusers.

The lower base is made of Acrylonitrile Butadiene Styrene (ABS).  The outer casing is made of polypropylene (PP).  Both of these materials are 100% safe for essential oils.  A lot of similar manufactures will tell you not to put citrus oils in a diffuser because it can eat away at the material.  However, with the Smiley Daisy Hibiscus diffuser, it’s perfectly fine to use your citrus oils in your diffuser.

How Do You Use The Hibiscus Diffuser?

Smiley Daisy ButtonsThe Smiley Daisy Hibiscus diffuser is a very easy to use ultrasonic diffuser.

There are two different buttons.  Neither of them is labeled.  The one of the right is the light button.  The one on the left is the mist button.

Light

When you press the light button once it cycles through 7 different colors.  If you press the light button again you can have it stay on a certain color.  For instance, if it’s cycling through the colors and you want it to stay on pink you would wait until pink shows up and then press the light button again.  Lastly, if you push the button the third time it will turn the diffuser light off.

Mist

You have two different settings for dispersing mist into the air.  Both of them run continuous mist.  There is no setting to run intermittent mist like the InnoGear 150 mL diffuser.  The high setting disperses 35 mL/hr (press once).  The low setting disperses 25 mL/hr (press twice).  Lastly, if you press the mist button three times it will turn the diffuser off.

How Long Does The Hibiscus Diffuser Last?

Smiley Daisy InsideOne of the advantages of getting a diffuser that holds 400 mL of water is you don’t have to keep refilling it.

One thing I don’t like about the diffuser is that there are no lines showing you how many milliliters of water are in the diffuser.  This is one thing I do like about the URPOWER diffuser.

Since there are two different modes it depends which mode you use.

From my experience when you use it on high it lasts for 6 hours.  However, when you use it on low it lasts 10 hours.  Of course, you need to make sure the 400 mL tank is full.

How Loud Is The Hibiscus Diffuser by Smiley Daisy?

It’s one of the quieter ultrasonic diffusers that I have used over the years.  It doesn’t beep or anything when you turn it on or cycle through the high and low mist modes.  A lot of other diffusers will beep when you go through the settings or the diffuser turns off.

If you want to get all technical it’s 35 dB.  Just take my word for it; it’s one of the quieter diffusers.

One thing I really like about this diffuser is it doesn’t beep when it turns off or cycle between mist modes.

How Big of An Area Does It Cover?

The suitable area of coverage for this diffuser is 150 square feet.  At least that is what it says on the box.

However, I have used it in my bedroom for 2 weeks now.  The square footage of my bedroom is about 150 sq. ft.  I do have 12 inch high ceilings, which does add to the square footage for the room.  I can smell the Smiley Daisy Hibiscus diffuser in all areas of my room and a little past the entryway of my bedroom.

Typically, I do use the high setting which does put out 35/ml of mist per hour.  This is one of the higher mist per hour units that I have tested.

I’ve used it when I go to sleep at night.  Typically, I will diffuse ho wood, bergamot, and vetiver to help me sleep at night.

Additionally, I have reviewed the NovaFuse by Plant Therapy and it stated that the area of coverage was 269 sq. ft.  However, I can’t smell the essential oils in all areas of my bedroom.  Therefore, I can say that the Smiley Daisy Hibiscus diffuser does have more area of coverage than other similar models that are supposed to cover more area space.

I was really impressed with the area of coverage with the Smiley Daisy Hibiscus diffuser.

Warranty & Refund

Smiley Daisy does have a great replacement and refund policy.

Within 30 days of purchasing your diffuser, you can get your money back if you don’t want it.  You get 100% of your money back.  There are no restocking fees or anything.  Refunds do take up to two weeks once they receive the product back, though.

If you do receive a damaged product Smiley Daisy will actually send you a mailing label and replace your diffuser.  Meaning, they will cover the shipping both ways.

The Hibiscus diffuser does come with a 180-day product replacement warranty.  It is advised that you call them at 1-201-455-7770 or email support@smileydaisy.com.

Final Verdict

Do I recommend the Smiley Daisy Hibiscus diffuser?

Yes!  It’s one of the best diffusers I have ever used.  There is always a temptation to buy cheaper ones on Amazon.  However, as I have learned from essential oils cheaper is certainly not always better.  In fact, with cheaper diffusers, you most certainly get what you pay for.

I am so glad I got the chance to try out this diffuser and I can tell you with 100% confidence that their diffusers are high-quality.

It does have a couple minor flaws.  There is no intermittent mode and there are no fill lines on both the water tank or cup that is included with it.

But, these flaws aren’t anything that should keep you from purchasing it.  With Smiley Daisy, you are paying for a quality diffuser.  The price will be a tad bit higher, but the quality is certainly there.

I highly recommend the Smiley Daisy Hibiscus diffuser to anyone who wants a high-quality diffuser.

  1. Ive never thought I needed a diffuser before. I wasn’t sure whether it was for a medical condition such as asthma or other respiratory disorders. I live in a hot country and Im not sure about whether the air would feel damp and more humid if I used a mist diffuser.  However when you went onto mention that you have it on at night to sleep I could immediately understand how effective it must be. I do not sleep well, frequently waking and sleep walking. I dont go to sleep easily either, Im wondering if something like this might be helpful.  Do you have to clean them often? As I say, I live in a hot country and produce goes off very quickly because of the heat and humidity, so would I need to clean it regularly ? and would I use it just at night or through the day too?  I like the look of this diffuser, it certainly wasn’t like ones Ive seen before. You talk about using essential oils in the diffuser. Are these specifically for diffusers or would they be like the ones you get for candles or soap?  Very interesting topic, I will have to do some more looking into getting one to help me sleep better !

  2. Hi this is a nice diffuser. I am pleased you didn’t try to get your visitors to buy a cheaper version and that you point out that sometimes you only get quality when you pay for it. It’s a good diffuser and I also like the look to it to. I know it’s functionality that counts more though but it’s always nice to have something pretty to go in your kitchen.

How do you think this one compares with doTERRA though.  I have heard they have some good diffusers and essential oils, though.

    1. Hey Kenny,

There are a lot of diffusers on the market. What is sad is a lot of them are dirt cheap, but they really aren’t worth it at all.

If you compare this one to doTERRA’s petal diffuser I would say they are about even. The petal does cover more area. But, this one by Smiley Daisy does put out more mist per hour.

Personally, it’s a tough choice between the two, though.

  3. It does seem that the Smiley Daisy Hibiscus Diffuser is rather wide, but oh it sure is pretty.  I love the way it looks, so sleek and pretty.  I really love diffusers, but mine is not very attractive, and I would like to get something that is interesting, and this one sure fits the bill.  I also love that you don’t have to keep re-filling the darned thing.  That’s one of my big beefs because I like to have it run overnight and keep on keeping on!  Great review – I think I’m going to try it.

    1. Hey Babsie,

I know what you are saying a lot of diffusers are very ugly. I have several of them and most of them are just a matte white. Doesn’t look very eye pleasing.

Yes, you can certainly use your Hibiscus diffuser on overnight. That is actually exactly how I use mine.

  4. Thank you for sharing with us Smiley Daisy Hibiscus Diffuser. I compared  and tested it with the pricier doTerra Petal Diffuser ($74) to see which one was better. This one holds a good amount of water in it and you don´t have to search for the plug on the bottom and spill your diffuser- the plug is on the side . But you know what, I prefer Smiley Daisy Hibiscus. As you may know essential oil diffusers are a much safer and healthier alternative to scented candles and are a fraction of the cost of scented candles, when compared on a per hour basis. Why do I prefer it to other diffusers? With a price point of around $40, it performs better than other diffusers, particularly doTerra Petal, while still offering fantastic value. After several months of daily long term testing, the Hibiscus continues to work as well as it did on day one, and I expect many more years of use out of this diffuser.

    1. Hey Enrique,

I agree and do prefer the Hibiscus over the doTERRA Petal diffuser. The price is better and it actually outperforms the Petal. It cheaper but the mist per hour that it produces is better. Smiley Daisy has some of the best quality diffusers on the market.

  5. I have been looking for a solid diffuser and really glad I found this article.  A lot of the other diffusers I’ve tried have not been a good experience.  The smiley daisy hibiscus diffuser does look like it’s definitely worth giving it a shot!

The two main benefits that sold me are not beeping and lasting up to 10 hours!

    Thank you!

    1. Hey Barry,

A lot of essential oils actually do beep when they turn off or you press the light or mist buttons. This can be very annoying if you are using it to help you sleep at night.

I’m 100% positive you will be happy with this Smiley Daisy Hibiscus diffuser!

  6. I love Smiley Daisy!

They have some of the best diffusers in the industry.  A friend of mine told me about them several years ago.  I’ve been using their products for years, too.  Have you ever tried their essential oils out though?  They do have a good gift set of essential oils for under $30.

    1. Hey Leo,
Thanks for your feedback. Glad you are happy with Smiley Daisy. No, I actually haven’t got around to trying out their essential oils, yet. It is on my list of things to do, though!
