I tested out the URPOWER essential oil diffuser because I like to test out new diffusers.
I was interested in this diffuser because I needed a diffuser that can cover my living room. There are a lot of aromatherapy diffusers to choose from. It makes it really hard to pick which diffuser you should go with.
So, I found this diffuser on Amazon because it’s an “Amazon’s Choice” diffuser. There are nearly 10,000 positive reviews on it and I want to write up an honest review of their diffuser.
So, about 3 months ago I went ahead and purchased it. I will let you know any and everything about the URPOWER 500 ml essential oil diffuser in this full review. Then you can decide whether or not you want to purchase it.
The Good About This Essential Oil Diffuser
- Good For Big Rooms.
- Has A 60, 120, 180 minutes timer.
- High/Low Mist Output.
- Changes Colors.
- Comes With A Measuring Cup.
- Is A Humidifier.
- Great Price (Under $25).
The Bad About This Essential Oil Diffuser
- No Intermittent Mode.
How Do You Use It?
The URPOWER essential oil diffuser is very simple to use. Meaning, unlike the InnoGear 150 ml diffuser that I reviewed you don’t have to take out an insert out to fill it up. Instead, you just twist the casing counterclockwise and then put water and drops of essential oils in. Of course, you need to put the plastic case on before using it.
Just like most electronic diffusers, it uses a standard plugin which you connect at the bottom and then into an outlet.
You can then spin the top any way you want and it will spray the mist in any direction you want.
Three Buttons

There are three buttons located at the base of the diffuser.
Light Button
The first button will control the lighting. The first time you push the button it will cycle throughout the different colors. If you push it again you can manually cycle through the different colors. The following colors are listed down below:
- Orange.
- Green.
- Purple.
- Red.
- Yellow.
- Pink.
- Blue.
- White.
Obviously, if you don’t want to use the light you don’t have to.
High/Low Button
The next button allows you to control the amount of mist that comes out of the diffuser. You can either set it to high or low.
Timer/Mist Button
The next button is a timer button. It’s labeled as the “mist” button. It turns the mist on with your diffuser. You can push it depending on how long you want the URPOWER diffuser to stay on. You can have the timer set for 60, 120, 180, and indefinitely. If you want to have the diffuser stay on indefinitely it will stay on until the diffuser runs completely out of the water. It has an auto shut off feature to preserve it from staying on when you’re out of water.
How Long Does It Last With Water In It?

There are a lot of electronic diffusers on the market. Chances are if you’re purchasing a 500 ml one you don’t want to have to fill it up every couple hours. The bigger the tank the less you have to fill it up.
There is a max level line which I wouldn’t suggest filling over it. Otherwise, it will not work correctly. Their container is marked with a 500, 400, 300, 200, and 100 mL line.
The URPOWER diffuser will last for 10 hours of continuous use. If you fill it to the 500 ml line. I have actually tested it out for myself and found out it last about 11-12 hours, though.
How Do You Clean It?
The URPOWER 500 ml diffuser does come with a manual. So, I am not going to bore you to death and read it word for word for you. But, it’s recommended that you clean it every 3-5 uses. I like to use citric acid and let it sit for about 5 – 15 minutes. Then, you gently scrub it with a cotton ball, wash rag, paper towel, etc.
You can find citric acid in most grocery stores. But, I found it pretty cheap on Amazon, which saves you the hassle of searching for it at the grocery store.
Does It Make A Lot of Noise?
The URPOWER essential oil diffuser isn’t very loud at all. Some diffusers that I have owned in the past are kind of loud. However, this isn’t the case with this one.
While I was unable to find the exact dB that this diffuser operates at I can tell you that I use it to help me sleep when I use lavender. It doesn’t beep or anything when it’s turned off, either.
How Big of An Area Does It Cover?
This is one of the most frequently asked questions with this diffuser. In the past, I have used an InnoGear 150 ml diffuser for small rooms. While that diffuser is great this one covers a lot bigger.
The URPOWER essential oil diffuser covers 430 Sq ft. It’s also a humidifier and will cover 269 Sq ft. I have used it in my living room, kitchen, office, etc. and I’m very happy with the amount of coverage from this diffuser.
Warranty & Refund Policy
While it isn’t so transparent on their website at http://www.urpower.net/ and through their Amazon product listing URPOWER does have a 45-day money-back policy and will replace your product in case it breaks for up to a year. I found this information from an article on Business Insider.
Final Verdict
Do I recommend this URPOWER Essential Oil Diffuser? Yes! It’s an excellent diffuser for a large room. Did I mention that it’s below $25? It super easy to use. You only have to lift the top off and add water and essential oils and you are good to go. I use it almost every day and certainly recommend it to anyone looking for a cheap, reliable, and diffuser than can cover larger rooms.
It does have a high/low setting where you can control the mist. You can easily spin it around to direct where you want the mist to point. This diffuser by URPOWER has a timer and you can use it as a humidifier, too.
It last for 11-12 hours, comes with a measuring cup, and the warranty is good for 12 months.
The only drawback I can think to mention is there isn’t an intermittent mode.
Again, it’s an awesome electronic diffuser and I highly recommend it to everyone.

Nice review, I want to get one of these for my RV. This looks like a nice small, not to expensive option. I may order it, putting it on my list thanks!
Quick question: does it come in any other colors than just white though?
Yeah, for $1 more it comes in wood grain, which looks pretty nice.
I have contemplated trying an essential oil diffuser but have never made the jump to do it. I’m allergic to fragrance and would like something that just puts a mild hint of organic fragrance into the air – nothing overpowering or too strong. What would an intermittent mode do?
Hey Lynne,
I would suggest that you start light with the essential oils. So instead of using 5-6 drops in a 150 ml diffuser use like 2-3. Intermittent mode would turn the diffuser off every 10, 30, and 60 seconds.
I didn’t even know I wanted or needed one of these, but I do now. In the future, I will actually be purchasing this diffuser for our living room at home. Sounds like it is an awesome gadget to have. And the fact that it can also be used as a humidifier as well, is an added bonus!! Thank you for your review!
Hey Laura,
This electronic diffuser is certainly worth the money. Not that expensive really and can make a big impact on your quality of life.
Highly recommended!
I love this information. We currently have a cheap diffuser we bought at Walmart. It has no timer and no way to choose a color. It is either light on or off. High or low mist. That’s it. We love the effects of lavender oil to help us sleep but wanted more in a diffuser. Now we know exactly which one to get. Having a timer is great if you are using it to fall asleep. I often worry ours will run out of water at night and just burn out. Glad to hear this one has a shut off as well to prevent any worries as we drift off to sleep.
Hey Maryann,
Don’t get me started about those essential oil diffusers from Walmart. They certainly aren’t worth the money. I used to use them and they only lasted for about 3-4 months. Then they would break.
The timer is an awesome feature. Truth be told I leave mine on overnight and helps me get a good night sleep. I seriously, can’t live without my diffuser. Anywhere I go I take it with me.
Nice review on this particular diffuser. I have been in the market for these as I’m trying to find a gift for my wife (she’s a big fan of scented diffusers and really scented anything). This is on my list!
Hey David,
Your wife will certainly love it! It’s one of the best diffusers I have ever owned. URPOWER made an awesome product!
This looks like a great Diffuser.
I’m currently looking for a new Diffuser after my last one stopped working a few weeks ago, and I haven’t got round to replacing it yet.
I want it in a loft room which is quite large, so this sounds like it will be perfect.
Being a humidifier is great too.
I like the different colours you can set it on too.
I think it would look just right where I want to put it.
Thanks for the great review.
Michael.
Hey Michael,
There are a lot of diffusers on the market that aren’t the best quality. I have used a number of them over the years and it really stinks when they break and you have to go get a new one.
If this one ever breaks URPOWER will just replace it. Can’t argue with that though!
I like this diffuser. I am currently using heated candle wax to scent the house, but I have really been wanting to make the switch to essential oils. Does one bottle of essential oil used in a diffuser last for quite a while if I have it on during the day, every day?
Hey Matts Mom,
Wax burners actually release toxic chemicals into the air. Don’t get me wrong they do smell nice, but those chemicals are toxic to your health.
You should certainly make the switch to essential oils. They have so many health benefits. I am so glad I discovered them years ago. One bottle should last you for quite some time. For instance, a 10 ml bottle has 200 drops in it. Typically, I put 7-10 in this diffuser. You will certainly get a lot of use out of a 10 ml bottle.
Excellent review! The first time I ever saw one of these was at a nursing home and the nurse there said it was one of their best aroma therapies, I really liked it then and now I know where to get one, thank you for this post!
Hey Christie,
Electronic diffusers are excellent for essential oils and aromatherapy. I seriously, couldn’t function without mine, though.
So many great health benefits.
I went from several different humidifiers on Amazon and other websites and most of them do not do the trick for me especially with my allergies and the limited amount of time I have to clean it. After reading this article, I can definitely tell I would be open to giving this a try since it had all of the great features that I’d be looking for and it doesn’t have too much maintenance.
Hi,
I have a few diffusers at home as well, and use them often. Although I do not have this one, I do like it. There is one thing more that I would like this diffuser to have: more than 180 minutes. I love the intermittent mode that my diffuser has, but it also stays on for a total of 6 hours.
Why that? I love to use it in the night when my kids are not feeling too well. For instance, when they have a fever or a cold, I like to use peppermint, lavender, and eucalyptus drops and put it on in our home. I have found that my kids are more relaxed and sleep better when we do that.
All in all, a great product I see,
Oscar
Hey Oscar,
I have so many diffusers it’s getting out of control. Really it’s kind of an addiction. But, yeah the URPOWER diffuser is one of the best diffusers I have ever purchased. I love it and literally couldn’t sleep without it.
Just for clarification, this diffuser doesn’t have an intermittent mode ( I wish it did). But, it will stay on for 10+ hours.
You should seriously try it. It’s one of the best electronic diffusers I have ever owned.
I really enjoyed your review of URPOWER Essential Oil Diffuser.
I am a great believer in the use of essential oils, but I do not yet have an electric diffuser, although I have been thinking of getting one, so your post is if particular interest to me.
Would you say the it is safe to use in a baby or child’s bedroom, as I think that essential oils are very helpful to assist breathing when the child has a cold, or, as you say, to use with lavender to assist with sleep?
I also really like the price tag, and I think that the colors would also be soothing to a child, or an adult for that matter.
Thanks for the review. I’ve been in the market for a good diffuser. I need one for a classroom. The room is a pretty big size. It can get really smelly from kids coming in after recess and gym. I love the fact that it has a timer. There are times I have to step outside the room for hours and it’s nice to know I can set a timer. This seems like everything I’ve been look for. How long can you set the timer for?
Hey,
This diffuser would be perfect for a big room. However, if it’s a really big room, for instance, 1,000 square feet or more you might want to get two of them. You can put one on one side of the room and the other on the other side of the room.
For deodorizing rooms, you could certainly use lemongrass and lavender. That is a good mix. However, you might want to create your own room spray which might be a better option. Here is an article on cleaning which shows you air spritzers recipes.
As, I have stated in my URPOWER review the timer is 60, 120, and 180 minutes. You can also run it until it runs out of the water, too. It will automatically shut off.
Hope this helps 🙂
